Pulling an appliance out safely takes training, not just extra hands, and that is what Kern Place jobs get from us. Refrigerators and freezers hold refrigerant that EPA rules require us to recover before disposal; washers and dryers will throw your back out; a water heater might still be plumbed into gas or water lines; and plenty of homes out here still run a rooftop or window evaporative cooler that has finally quit. We handle every one of these from wherever it lives — kitchen, laundry room, garage, or roofline. Once it is out, each appliance goes to a certified recycler that processes the metal, plastic, and hazardous parts correctly, and anything still working gets offered to Kern Place charities first.
